Pre-coffee report

Pre-coffee report. This morning I had planned to walk up the hill to Education as part of my training for next year's move. However, something told me I should instead get to work, and I was right for doing to. There's a conference being held in one of our classrooms, and as it turns out they needed a fair amount of assistance to get their presentations set up. All this before my fist cup of coffee at work! Oy!

We eventually got everything worked out. The biggest problem was someone wanting to play a video in their presentation. The video would play on the presenters screen, but not on the projected display. This happens when the PC doesn't have enough video power to outputthe video to both. Our classroom PCs are some of the oldest PCs in the department, but I've seen relatively new Windows laptops suffer the same problem. Thankfully, the presenter had her Macbook with her, which had no problem outputting video to two displays.

(If you are stuck using a Windows machine, the solution is to disable to presenter's display so that the only video output is to the projector. This makes is difficult for the presenter, but the video will play.)
