I'm gonna rip some stuff wholesale off of Slashdot here.
First, they've arrested someone for the ILOVEYOU virus. CmrdTaco's comment was right on: "It appears that the virus had identifying information all over it, which makes me a bit suspicious that this could be a set-up, but on the other hand, you should never attribute to malice what can be explained by stupidity."
Also, Katz has a piece a a new book titled Irrational Exuberance : "Shiller argues that the techno-fueled stock-market boom is based on emotion, rumor, pyschology and herd instincts (like excitement about the Net), rather than on any rational facts or data -- and that it can't last. In fact, he writes, technology may be driving the market mad. If he's right, the market has to fall, and technology companies will be among those most significantly affected."
