My original plan was to spend most of today working on the site. Instead, I've spend it ploing through sever hundred pages of Neal Stephenson's Cryptominocon. I've got a couple of hundred pages left, and I want to finish the book tonight, so needless to say, the coding didn't get done, and this update will be short and sweet.

Normally, I would have filed this Echelon report in the "read later" folder, but after spending the whole day reading about crypto, I think I'll be reading this as soon as I'm done with the book.

BTW, this week is the first leap day in 400 years. What this means is that while this is technically a leap year, we do not loose a day.

These folks are taking the whole Amazon patent issue much more seriously then I am (i.e. they are doing something about it).

If you don't have a copy of the Chicago Manual of Style on hand, the Economist has a style guide online. (And yes, I realize the irony of posting an Amazon affiliate link right after the nowebpatents link...)

I would seriously consider getting a pair of these noise-cancelling headphones for the office if it weren't for the fact that they are honkin-big-ugly and cost $200US.

Thinking about quantum mechanics and fractals is what left me recently contemplating this idea of worlds within worlds.
