Do not adjust your sets. I dropped the font point-size by 1 point. Why? Well, the site looked fine at high-resolution, but whenever I looked at it on normal display size (1024x768 or lower), the type just seemed so huge! Now I can still read it fine at 1600x1200 (on a 19" monitor, mind you), so I'm expecting that most of you should have no trouble with the change. As usual you can post you comments to the discussion area.

I had planned to make a few small adjustments to the site (i.e. add FAQ, add archives to Recently Found and Backlog, etc), but I didn't get around to it. I did manage to update Recently Found, CD Changer, and Backlog, so check them out.

I spent part of my afternoon getting hooked up for online banking, which went relatively smoothly. Now I can keeps tabs not only on my checking and credit card accounts, but also on the progress I'm making (or not making) at paying off my loans. Very cool.

This week I start my new budget, which means no more eating out for lunch everyday. If I can keep to my budget, I should have no problem at all being able to afford to move to a nice place downtown in July. I may even be able to save some money so that I'll be able to afford a trip to Quebec City this summer.

In short, life is good!

Looking out my window on New Years Eve, it looked like someone had opened a pit to hell in the middle of downtown Montreal.

Experts are trying to figure out why all those countries that were supposedly not prepared for the Y2K bug have had seemingly few reported failures.

An article covering those predictions made for the 1990's that tanked. An interesting article, if only to remind us of the sometimes forgotten fact that not all of the predictions we make will come true.

Here's a more personal, detailed account of Jobs' presentation at Macworld last week.

Arts@Large is a series of reports on the impact of technology on the arts. Lots to read here.

Geek girls of the web unite!.

The major manufacturers are starting to tout envirocars. Too bad hardly any are actually for sale.

Looking for a game of Jyhad? Check out Jyhad Online, a play-by-email version of the game. They've got software to handle the shuffling/drawing of cards, and a ref to keep track of what's on the table, resolve conflicts, etc. One turn around the table takes 1-2 weeks, so you've got to be really desperate to play. I must admit, though, that reading through the game progress reports does make me want to go tweak my Lasombra deck.

Followers of Ayn Rand are still trying to get her to be taken seriously by academics. They may actually be making some headway.
