Reading diary. Alistair Cooke's American journey : life on the home front in the Second World War. This was a great read, recounting a road trip Cooke took around the United States in the months after the US entered World War 2. To be honest, my knowledge of the various regions of the US is embarrassingly limited, so I found these stories and descriptions to be very interesting, even if they describe something that may no longer exist. More reading on the US is, I think, in order.
