Useful MS Word config option:

Tools > Options > View > Outline and Normal options > Wrap to Window

This allows me to resize Word into a narrow window that I can keep alongside my other windows for taking notes. (I've been keeping a work diary of sorts in Word since I started here two weeks ago.)
