Statement from Microsoft Concerning Adobe. This is in response to Adobe's response to Microsoft's earlier annoucement that it would not integrate PDF technology into Office 2007 because of pressure being exerted by Adobe to leave it out.

There isn't much new here. Adobe is saying that they have no plans on sueing Microsoft over the issue, and that they are just concerned the MS will extend the PDF standard in such a way at to make it proprietary. Microsoft's response is that they haven't done so, will not do so, and have no plans to do so.

My take: Adobe is trying to leverage the lack of trust people have of MS to protect sales of their own Acrobat software. I think this FUD, though, is unfounded, and rather pathetic. Microsoft would do well to just ignore them and go ahead with including the PDF functionality in their applications.
