Web turns 35, but is still a work in progress. It is actually the Internet, sorry, internet that is turning 35. I guess most people, including the editors at the Globe and Mail, continue to think that the internet and the world wide web (web?) are the same thing. (The CNN story at least gets the headline right.) Aside from being technically incorrect, equating the web with the internet limits people's thinking about the internet's potential. E-mail and the web are the two most popular applicaitons that run over the internet, and I expect VoIP will soon appear on most people's radar as well. (Note: the text of the artcile does get the story right. It's only the headline that is shoddy writing.)
