How can we ever hope to produce effective Expertise Finders when we can't even get people in our own organizations to keep their personal information up to date?
I would go a bit farther, and say that your first job is to get people to maintain their calendars online (assuming you have some group calendaring/scheduling software like Exchange available). The information to be maintained is fairly straight-forward, and the benefit to the individual and the organization easy to understand and experience. If your people are not able to do that, any fancy KM or social networking software that requires that the users maintain data is not going to get very far.
