Someone is supposed to be dropping by this morning to get me set up on Exchange. Although I could continue to use Thunderbird as my mail client, I won't be able to make use of most of Exchange's functionality unless I'm using Outlook. Since I will probably be involved in helping the Centre make the most of Exchange (and there are a lot of benefits), it makes sense that I use the same client as everyone else: Outlook 2003.

It has been a while since I've been on an Exchange server (sometime in the mid-90's, probably the first version), so I think I need to brush up on what it can do for me as a user. This document should help. (Actually, it wasn't that helpful, since it was several pages basically saying that Outlook can connect and sync with Exchange with few problems.)

Update: After a fair amount of poking around microsoft.com, I was able to find some useful information. From what I can tell, it boils down to shared calendars and folders. Being able to use shared calendars to schedule meetings alone will be worth the switch. Shared folders, depending on how they work, could be useful for working with others. Having said that, I think that Sharepoint has the collaboration functionality I really want.
