The W3C just released this best practices document for developers interested in makig their sites available on more then just PCs. My guess is that, like accessibility, multi-platform development will be standard paractice, and one of the strenghts of web-based applications. I'm not familiar enough with the details to know if the effort/benefit equation is the same as for accessibility, but my sense is that things are moving in that direction.
